Side questing on research, developments, and all-the-things…

NoteAbout Me 🥸

Aloha! I am an Information Technology (IT) Practitioner from the grind and gritty streets of Kalihi on the island of Oʻahu with over 6 years of professional experience in various subfields of IT spanning across the private and public sectors. From troubleshooting layer 1 issues as a help desk specialist to managing enterprise systems and accounts as a system administrator, I ventured into many roles in IT especially within Security Operation Centers (SOC) supporting agencies and departments in different geographic regions.

I’ve had the pleasure of: triaging alerts and developing analyst fatigue as a noob Tier 1 Analyst… 🫠; participating multiple Table-Top Exercises (TTX) like Gaining Cyber Dominance (2022), Joint Exercises (EX) such as Yama Sakura 83 (YS83), and red-team engagements followed by after-actions to refine Incident Response Procedures (IRP); assisting security engineers with developing, testing, and validating visualization dashboards and countermeasures before deploying for production; collaborating in cross-organizational efforts on proactive hunts and leveraging threat intelligence to attribute Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs); supporting critical counterintelligence investigations including insider threat activity; developing policies and procuring capabilities to stand-up a Cell with Cyberspace Defense as it’s primary focus (which is my least favorite responsibility with non-stop meetings… 🥴, but a great learning experience for developing business partnerships and understanding strategic values); etc., etc., etc…

What I am most grateful for are the mentors and professional leaders I was able to lean towards for guidance and constructive criticism throughout my career.

As a lifetime learner, I advocate continual learning; thus, I dedicate significant amount of hours off-duty to learn new and reinforce technical concepts, solve various Capture-The-Flag (CTF) challenges, and document lessons learned for educational purposes.

Other than spending hours on keyboard and tinkering with gadgets, some personal hobbies include but not limited to: reading, writing, and binge watching films in historical war drama and anime. Favorite films are: Gladiator (2000), Master and Commander: The Far side of the World (2003), The Last Samurai (2003), Troy (2004), and Greyhound (2020).
